Bleeding during Bowel Movements
Anal
bleeding during bowel movements is the most common symptom of hemorrhoids. The
blood may be bright red, or it may be mixed with stool and look brownish. The
bleeding usually covers the stool but may also stain the toilet paper. Bleeding
can also occur if you have an anal fissure (a small tear in the skin around
your anus).
If you
experience bleeding with bowel movements, see your doctor to rule out other
causes of bleeding such as cancer or polyps in your colon (large intestine).
